Aloha Everyone – it’s Coach’s Final Commentary for 2008!
Coach Kimo’s last words;
I’m closing this season with some fond memories of the great things God has done for me and our ministry. I’m always grateful for the opportunity of sharing my passion and gifting of canoe paddling with each and every person that God brings to our beach’s. The evidence of His love, mercy and grace has been reflected in each of you who has participated this year. I therefore thank each of you in making my dreams come true – sharing His Aloha and Love of paddling with the World!
Mahalo from Mrs. Coach & Myself and God bless you!
To paddle or not to paddle? That is the question.
Coach Cy & Charlie Thurston say’s – “It’s okay!”
How and when? – That’s the other question.
Here’s the LONG answer;
Many of you have asked if we can continue paddling after Rec season (which ended yesterday, October 25th). Personally, I need to take a break. Collectively, arrangements can be made to keep it going.
Right now, and until November 2nd, Coach Cy is in training with some competitive mix crews for an upcoming long distance race.
Starting Wednesday, November 5th, 5pm, and on Saturday, November 8th, 7am, the competitive crews are continuing a regular practice schedule which will last about 2 hours at each session. Coach Cy has INVITED REC PADDLERS TO PARTICIPATE .
However, as you are aware, this kind of paddling involves serious, hard and long workouts. If you do participate, be ready for that. I would recommend those of you who are considering joining competitive season next year to participate.
As for the rest of us, here’s my suggestion:
Starting Saturday, November 8th, 9am - Rec will paddle after Competitive is Pau!
- EXPERIENCED REC PADDLERS ONLY! NO NEW PADDLERS!
- REC COACHS WILL ALTERNATE EACH WEEK BEING IN CHARGE! (Kimo, Ken, Jimmy, Travis)
- BRING PADDLE, DRINKING WATER & PLAN ON OPEN-OCEAN WORKOUTS!
- TIME IN CANOE; APPROX. 40 MIN. to 1-HR.
- REC PADDLERS MUST SIGN-UP AHEAD OF TIME! WE MUST KNOW WHO’S COMING!
- A RUNNING SIGN-UP LIST WILL BE POSTED EACH WEEK ON THE REC BLOG!
- ONCE THE CANOE LEAVES THE BEACH – THERE’S NO COMING BACK TO PICK YOU UP
So, let’s try that for now – WE WILL GO BY A WEEK-TO-WEEK SCHEDULE, BASED ON PARTICIPATION AND RESULTS. CREWS AND SCHEDULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND CANCELLATION. IF YOU WANT TO PADDLE, STAY IN COMMUNICATION. CHECK THE BLOG OR CALL THE COACHes.
Here’s what else is going on –
