It's an opportunity of a lifetime that I get to Coach the Open-2 Womens crew which includes my daughter, Pomai. I'm excited to be part of this wonderful group of lady paddlers.
Pls keep our crew in your prayers since 6 out of the 10 ladies will be crossing the Kaiwi Channel for the first time. Oh boy! (or should I say, "Oh girl!")
I'm catching a ride with one our escort boats on Friday morning, (5:30am) to Molokai. So, I'll be leaving Rec Paddling in charge with all of you - Coach Ken will be running the beach..THANKS COACH KEN!
We should be crossing the finish line around 2:pm Sunday, 9/28, at the Hale Koa / Hawaiian Village beach site.
Thanks again to all of you supporting Pomai and I in this special family event.
God bless
Coach Kimo
Crew, Three crews consisting of forty-three NHCCM Na Wahine O Ke Kai paddlers, coaches, escort boat captains and helpers are preparing to leave for "The Friendly Island" beginning tomorrow. The first to arrive, will be none other than the leader of our canoe club, Charlie Thurston. I don't think that he, or wife Kathy get much sleep these days. Work, canoe club business, and new grandchild Isaiah keeps them plenty busy. Thank you for breathing life into our canoe club year in and year out Mr. and Mrs. Thurston! You have blessed so many paddlers these past ten years with your overwhelming generosity, kindness, and love. To the "behind-the-scenes" people and ohana on the homefront, you have made this upcoming crossing possible, mahalo bunches. We couldn't have done it without you, and you will be in our paddlers hearts and minds as they paddle home to you on O'ahu. Please pray for every person's safe passage both to and from Moloka'i for this, the 30th anniversary of the Na Wahine O Ke Kai. God has blessed us with the strength to shine for Him, in front of paddlers from around the world, who will be converging on the New Hope Moloka'i Oceanside Retreat for the race's coaches meeting at 4 PM, this Saturday. Best wishes to everyone on our 2008 NHCCM Na Wahine O Ke Kai Paddling Team! Faith, Hope, and Love. Three Crews, One Heart, One Team. C'ya at the finish line! -Uncle Hut |
