"Coach's Comments" Newsletter

Aloha Everyone, Sunday, April 13, 2008

This is Coach Kimo – it’s been a long time since I’ve written a newsletter, I hope I’m finding all of you in good health and spiritually sound. May I start with a scripture thought first?

“Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.” John 15: 4 Amplified Version

We find God trying to speak to us in many different forms…have you ever wondered why He does this? Have you found the form (or format) in which he’s trying to speak to you? If His will is to abide in you, must you hear from Him first? Must you draw near to Him first? And must you trust in His will before producing abundant fruit? You see, this scripture is both a promise and a challenge. If it’s your will to draw close to Him – He will draw close to you.

Here’s some big questions; Why would you need to be drawn close to anyone? Especially, an invisible person like God? And, what does the “will of God” actually mean? Romans 12:2, Jeremiah 29:11, Philippians 1:6 When I’m cross referencing scriptures, I like using biblegateway.com

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:

  • Thanks to everyone for understanding…last Saturday, April 12, we postponed Rec Paddling until 10:30am due the “Aloha Airlines Employee Prayer Breakfast”

  • At 10:30am we were at our canoe site to assist Coach Aka with his adaptive paddlers. Truthfully, I wasn’t expecting that many people to show up for Rec paddling – boy, was I wrong! Not only did people show up, we had “alumni” coming out of the woodwork…Dave Adams, Adele, Coach Travis & nephew, Tosh, and even Tui & family. It was great to see everyone again.

ACTIVITIES:

Scheduled for next Saturday, April 19th, as follows;

  • Kahiau Long Distance Race (sponsored by Keahiakahoe Canoe Club) – Women & Men, 9:00am New Hope Canoe Clubs competitive crews will be entering. Race is from Keehi Lagoon to Honolulu Harbor buoy and back. God’s speed and safety are released.

  • Kai Makana Foundation – 8:30-1:PM / 200 participants will need canoe shuttle assistance to Mokauea Island and back for general clean up and historical tours. Our Rec Ohana is invited to tour the island if anybody is interested.

  • BRUNCH ON THE BEACH (BOTB) 9:30-1:30PM, Rec Ohana will once again host our monthly potluck for our competitive and Recreational Ohana

  • For further details on potluck assignments – please check your emails from Maria and Lita. Set up time will start 7:00am, Mahalo

  • Coach Aka’s gang will be at Kailua Beach for their “Pure Light Paddling Project”

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • There will be no advance paddling clinic or “around the island” paddling. We will be needed for shuttling and serving our beginners rotation paddlers.

That’s it for now, as usual, your comments and concerns are always welcomed.
